Getting here
Sixteen kilometres east of Nakusp
Summit Lake sits 16 km east of Nakusp, British Columbia. Lifts turn from 10:00 to 15:30, half-day tickets start at 12:30, and the hill lights up on Friday nights.
Hours
10:00 to 15:30, and later on Fridays
The 2025/26 season ran through to 22 March 2026. Which days of the week the hill opens, and when it opens each winter, depend on the snowpack and on how many volunteers are available — so both are worth confirming before you set out.
Always check before you drive. Weather, snow and staffing can close a small hill at short notice. A phone call to 250-265-3312 is the fastest way to be sure.

The blank rows are not an oversight — they are the fields a real build would hand to the club to fill in once, rather than leaving a visitor to guess.

How far is it, really
- Nakusp
- 16 km
The hill is 16 km east of town — the only distance the ski area publishes.
Everywhere else
Driving times from New Denver, Revelstoke, Castlegar and the Kootenay Lake ferry would sit here in a real build. The club has not published them and we have not estimated them.

No street address is published for the hill, so a real site would carry a pinned map here instead. Winter tyres are sensible on any mountain road in January.
The day lodge
Renovated on grants and donated hours
The day lodge was brought up to date through grant funding and in-kind donations — materials given, labour given, a building improved without a budget to do it with. It holds the cafeteria and the rental shop, and it is where a cold day gets rescued.
The rental shop covers skis, snowboards and snowshoes, so a visitor can arrive with nothing and still get out onto the hill or the trail.

Check the hill is open
Opening dates, operating days and closures all move on a volunteer-run hill. Ring 250-265-3312 or email info@skisummitlake.com rather than assuming.
-
Ask about rentals in advance
Skis, snowboards and snowshoes are all available in the lodge. A call ahead is worth it for children's sizes, and essential for a group.
-
Keep Friday free
Night skiing is the one thing here you cannot do any other day of the week. If you are driving in for a single visit, make it that one.
